One of the chief lessons I learned (or rather re-learned) during my sabbatical was just how loved we all are simply because we are the children of God. 1 John 3:1 says “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” John communicates to us here that we should think on, ponder, the lavish love of the Father, and receive this love. I am persuaded that this is the key to the Christian life.
