Prayer can be a perplexing thing. We know that God is sovereign over all, so sometimes we wonder why we should pray, and many of us struggle to do so. On one occasion when Jesus was praying, one of his disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” This ought to be the heart of every disciple, of every follower of Jesus. As we learn to pray we discover the truth of how absolutely helpless we are apart from God. We gain wisdom to make time to pray. We learn the joy of child-like faith, deepening our trust in the Lord. Most of all, we grow in our love for the Lord Jesus.
